Our great friends Mark & Lori were down from PA again to pursue some SC deer hunting and what a great time.  After a few misses on some doe chasing bucks they both finally made some great shots on some low country whitetails.  Mark managed to set his sites on a nice 8pt buck and Lori took a nice tasty doe.  On Lori’s last evening of hunting she had another nice buck to show up right at dark but was unable to make a good ethical shot and passed on the opportunity.  He will just be bigger and older next year Lori and from your favorite stand!   We look forward to your next hunt at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.

Steve was down again from NY with Franky D. and Ryan.  More about Frank and Ryan later.  After a number of deer sightings, Steve finally took a big doe for the dinner table.  Thanks to Steve for all of his generous help with our Wounded Warriors that hunted with us this weekend.  Steve is a class act and a great friend at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.

Now for Franky D. from NY.  This makes our special friend Frank’s 13th year straight hunting with us here at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge making several  trips each year.  Frank is a little man with a Giant Heart!  Over the years Frank has brought a young hunter with him to hunt at Cypress Creek most of the years.  Thanks to Frank this young man has grown-up hunting and fishing with Frank learning good ethics and morals that would not have been readily available in this young mans life.  Way to go Kalab!  Frank is also a Vietnam Veteran and sponsors a number of Wounded Warriors each year to come and hunt with us at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.  He makes sure that all of their needs are taken care of and we always have a wonderful experience on these hunts.  Frank really knows how to “Pursue the Experience”.

Frank  has hunted here so much he knows most of the stands and usually knows how to pick them.  This year again he brought lucky Ryan along.  Ryan is a deer’s worse nightmare.  Frank and Ryan together managed to take some nice bucks and a number of does.  Way to go again boys!

One of our Wounded Warriors that was here this week was Matt from NC.  Let me make one point very clear!  Here at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge, I have had the privilege of shooting with a number of military snipers and law enforcement snipers on our range, but I have never seen anyone that can shoot like Matt.  Wow!  And with a .308 that he built himself.  Matt hopes to start building precision rifles for a limited amount of people in the future.  Believe me, this is the #1 person to set you up with an unbelievable accurate rifle.  Matt will be teaming up with us at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge in the future to conduct some long range shooting classes.  We plan to start these classes in the spring of 2013, so watch the blog for all the details coming soon!  While hunting with us this time Matt made a great shot on his first buck ever.   Way to go buddy!

Mike was our other Wounded Warrior here this week and had his hopes on a nice big boar.  On his first evening hunt Mike’s wishes came true with a big dark red sow with one shot from his custom built .308 rifle.  Two big hogs now on his two hunts with us at Cypress Creek.  Thanks to Mike Casstevens for his guide work on Mike’s hunt two years straight.

Steve C. from GA was here in August for a velvet deer hunt and now back for another deer/hog combo hunt.  He made the best of both with a nice deer and hog on his one day hunt.  Steve plans to return again in December to do it again and we look forward to hunting with Steve again.

Steve K. from FL was back hunting at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge again this past week and brought a young 1st time hunter, Angel, to pursue the experience.  Steve and his dad Dalton usually make this hunt annually, but unfortunately Dalton has been recovering from heart surgery and was unable to come this time.  We always enjoy time spent with Steve and Dalton hunting and especially at the dinner table.  We hope and pray for Dalton’s speedy recovery and look forward to the next time together.  Steve made the most of his hunt with a real wide rack 8pt buck.  Angel attempted several shots, but the excitement was too overwhelming this time.  We bet he will put one on the ground next time for sure.

Our last hunters to end the week and this blog were our great friends from NJ.   David Sr. and son’s David, Jr. and John.  After a number of deer sightings and one miss, David Jr. managed to make a great shot in the fading light on his last evening hunt with a tall rack 8pt buck.  This was his best buck ever.  What a great way to end a family hunting trip that will always be remembered.  This family definitely knows how to “Pursue the Experience”.

Well this kinda wraps it up for last week and this week has already started out with some real Bruser Bucks being taken.  Be sure to check the next blog for the pictures and details.  Better still, call Becky and come get one for yourself at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.
