With the weather changing as well as the time, animals are on the move.  The huge full moon and strong winds from Hurricane Sandy did not slow down the hunting for us this week at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.

David from GA hunted hard in the oak swamp bottoms for a buck.  Seeing a few good ones, but no shots through the thick cover, he was able to catch up with a pack of hogs in a cotton field on one of his morning hunts.  Waiting till one broke off from the bunch, he made a great head shot and dropped a beautiful blond boar.

Great SC Hunting!

Every year we have a group from Bass Pro in Orlando, FL and some of their friends come and hunt for a few days to enjoy some SC deer hunting.  We always have a good time with this group and with the rut almost here, they had a great time.

On his 3 day hunt, Mickey shot a nice 8pt, 6pt, 3pt and a doe on a new tract of land.  Great shooting!

Then Anthony took the groups “big buck pot” with a double on his 1st day of hunting.  Hitting the mark on a mature 9pt buck and the doe that he was chasing.

Donald is staying a little longer for a 5 day trophy hunt on Pleasant Hill Plantation.   This weekend he harvested 1 doe on his 1st afternoon hunt and his niece Sara sat with him one morning giving him luck with a double doe kill.  Donald will be hunting with us next week too, so check the blog next week for updates on his SC trophy hunt.

Chuck the group host, saw alot of young bucks every day, a good crop for next years harvest.  Finally on the last morning hunt he made a great shot on a nice mature doe.

Trapper shot a doe on his 2nd day of hunting.  Then on his last afternoon he saw a few does and a great looking 10pt buck but he never presented himself for a good shot.

Mario and his son Vito from NY getting the luck started right from the start, had a big buck running a doe past his stand.  But as most new hunters find out, hitting him was another story.  But on their 2nd afternoon hunt they made up for it with a great first buck with a SC 11pt buck (Spike).

Wrapping it up this weekend with a few misses and sightings and Donald still hunting at Pleasant Hill Plantation.  With the cold weather coming and the moon less bright, the big boys should come out to play, so give us a call to schedule your SC deer hunting or SC hog hunting trip.
