Our 2013 S. C. Turkey Hunting season has been plagued with heavy rains and strong winds, but with high turkey populations and great turkey guides, Justin & Henry, we have managed to do pretty well.  In addition to the harvested , we have had a number of close calls and missed opportunities as you sometimes do in turkey hunting.  The challenge of ole toms that are sometimes hard to get are what most of us turkey hunters really enjoy about the sport.  We are always thankful when the text book hunt takes place, but it is the hardest earned turkeys that always mean the most.  What a great privilege and blessing it is to hunt these wary ole thunder chickens in the spring woods of South Carolina.

DSCN0021Enjoying their time again in the SC spring turkey woods was our guide Justin and him mom Jamie from PA who hunted hard and had good success with two nice gobblers.  Jamie is one lady hunter that really enjoys her time in the great outdoors.

Next we had Dave and his wife Lynn down from Landrum, SC.  Dave made good on his hunt with a nice spring gobbler while Lynn did a little fishing.  Dave and Lynn have hunted Africa and many other places and it was a pleasure to have them hunting with us at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.  Dave not only took a nice gobbler home, but also took a good meat hog home for the freezer.  We look forward to your next visit.DSCN0025

Our good friends Bill and Bev were down again from Catawba, SC.  Bev got things started off with a nice big boar on her first evening hunt and then followed up with a nice dry sow.  We always really enjoy having Bill and Bev at our lodge and they are serious about their hunting.  What a great way to spend quality time together.

DSCN0046Recently we had Norm from N. Palm Beach, FL here to enjoy some turkey hunting with us and talk about someone that enjoys this time turkey hunting, that’s Norm.  He is a very experienced turkey hunter that has turkey hunted in many states and knows what it takes.  Norm caught some rainy, windy weather but still managed to harvest a nice gobbler.  Norm plans to return next year for some more SC turkey hunting and we will be ready.

During the same rainy, windy weather last week, William Jr. and William Sr. came from MD for their first hog hunt.  Despite the weather, William Jr. was successful in harvesting 2 nice boars.  We really enjoyed having these guys hunt with us and we look forward to their next trip.DSCN0043

While turkey hunting has been going wide open, our hog hunters have been having good success as well. Although pictures were not available we had our good friend Steve and his son Billy down from VA.  Young Billy took a nice boar that was not recovered until the next day due to heavy rain.  Billy made a great shot and hopes to return again with his dad.

We had another group down from KY to try their first hog hunt.  They managed to take three nice meat hogs home and had several missed shots and opportunities.  Heavy rains made hunting a little tougher than normal and prevented good quality pictures to be taken of some of our turkey and hogs, but the thrills of the harvest are just as good.

Our night hog hunts for May and June are beginning to book up so those of you that would hope to take advantage of this unique opportunity may want to give Becky a call real soon!  As most hunters know wild hogs are extremely nocturnal and these hunts will be very productive.  Call now at 1-877-520-2245 to book and we will see you in the up and coming night time hog hunts and hopefully on our blog.
