South Carolina Hunting in September at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge has gone out with lots of bangs!  Usually September hunting in the low county is a lot slower, but definitely not this year.  With good weather and cooler than normal temperatures the hunting has been really good for deer, hogs and alligators.

Our staff has been working really hard planting food plots, filling feeders, bushogging roads and getting ready for the on coming pre-rut and rut that should start taking place in mid to late October.  With plenty of good buck sightings and trail-cam pictures, this should be an outstanding year for Cypress Creek.  We look forward to our friends and guest that are anxiously waiting for their hunts to get here.  Now let’s take a look at some of the September action.

352First we had Bob Frisch down from PA for his second hunt with us and made it good with the nice meat hog that he was hoping for.

On their first visit with us at Cypress Creek, Paul Labrash, his brother and grandson really enjoyed a great family outing in the SC Low County.  Paul’s brother harvested this nice 6pt buck while on their 2 day hunt.  We hope to see them again in the near future.Paul Lebrash

Another first time guest was Alex and Bruce from the upstate of SC.  Alex and Bruce were down for a day and a half to harvest hogs and Bruce managed to take home the bacon.  We look forward to your next hunting trip in the low county.1674

Our next hunter was a first time guest also, Charlie Murray.  Charlie was down from NC with his good friend Alan Honeycutt.  Both hunters made good on their first visit to Cypress Creek.  Charlie harvested this huge 350# boar with one good shot.  Charlie has hunted worldwide and this was his best ever wild boar.  Congratulations Charlie!356

361Alan also has done extensive hunting in other countries and took home some tasty venison for his freezer.  After passing up plenty of deer, Alan took a doe and a cul-buck.  Alan passed on other young 8pt bucks and a number of hogs to just enjoy the experience.  Alan & Charlie were both class-act hunters and we hope to spend some more hunting time together in the future!

Our next guests were good friends Alan Strickland and his son Beau up from Florida.  After passing on a number of goods bucks, Alan finally spotted one that he really wanted and made a great shot to take it.  Alan’s buck was a beautiful non-typical 10pt buck.  Way to go Alan!3691234818_10151877775464837_659465790_nBeau did his part as well, harvesting a good 8pt buck pictured here with his buck and his dad’s non-typical with a double main-beam.  Way to go guys and we’re looking forward to your next hunt later this year.

380Pete Winfield came down from PA for his second hunt with us at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge and this time he was after swamp lizards, alligators, or in this case a dinosaur.  After a lot of intense excitement and heartbreak, Pete finally earned a huge 9’5″ alligator.  Believe us when we say this was a team effort for Pete, Justin and Danny.  If you ever wondered if our alligator hunts can be exciting and rewarding, just ask Pete!

Well done Pete!376

At Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge we have experienced good September hunting.  Some hunting lodges close down during September due to poor hunter success of lack of hunters during this time.  We have been blessed with both and are looking forward to even better times ahead.

With that said, for the first time in a long time, Cypress Creek is offering the opportunity for two new guide positions.  The hours can be long and the work can be hard, but the outdoor lifestyle can be very rewarding.  Anyone that may be interested can contact us at 1-877-520-2245 or email us at dharrellhunts@aol.com  for more details.

Freedom AllianceOur last hunt of September was with our military.  The Freedom Alliance organized by Colonel Oliver North for wounded warriors and their families were here at Cypress Creek for a memorable hunt.  All the pictures and details will be on our next blog in about a week, so be sure to check it out.

Hope of see you soon in the great outdoors as we all “Pursue the Experience”.
